The Great Leader of Russia

Early Life

Peter never had a normal childhood. He became very mesmerized as a young boy after he saw his very own uncle killed before his eyes. His life was in a perpetual fight for power among his father's widows and the rule of his older brother, Theodore. His father died in January 1676, putting Theodore III in rule. After Theodore's death, Peter was put into rule. Unfortunately, the Miloslavkys and the Streltsy did not want Peter to succeed. As a result, he had to share his rule with Ivan, his demented half brother. But this did not affect his rule. When Peter was originally in rule, he was but ten years old. His half-sister, Sofia plotted a revolution which lead to the impaling of Peter's supporters in front of the child himslef. This is what led to Peter's sharing of power with Ivan. Finally, Peter has power in his grip, but this time he is not letting go.
