The Great Leader of Russia

Regrets

I doubt that Peter the Great had many regrets; for he accomplished nearly everything he wanted to do for his country. From all of Peter's travels through foreign countries and empires, I believe that Peter's regret was in fact being Russian and not Western European. In Peter's eyes, Russian tradition was not "proper". He forced people to dress as the other Europeans did and to do what the other European countries did. Though my point could be argued, I believe that Peter would have liked it better if he was King of France or England. Instead he was Czar of Russia. Because he missed his chance to be ruler of a real Westernized nation, he decided to make Russia "westernized".
Another regret Peter may have had was not being a very seaworthy nation. Russia is nearly completely surrounded by land. With the sea, trade can be made and swift conquests can begin. However, Russia had very few ports and could not do these things. Because of this disability, Russia failed to conquer many cities.
